Lead Pastor

Affectionately known as PD (Pastor Dave).

David Cowger was born and raised in Elkins, West Virginia. While he was a boy, his family attended the local Nazarene church in Elkins. Sensing God had more for her life, his mother took their family to attend church at First Assembly of God in Elkins. It was there that he was filled with the Holy Spirit. It was there that he was called to the ministry. It was there that he was involved in leading his first youth group... a group in which he was still a teenager.

Immediately following high school, Pastor Dave joined the Marine Corps. While there, he was appointed chaplain of his platoon. Yes, God still had a calling on his life.

Following the Marines, Pastor Dave attended Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God, in Lakeland, Florida. It was there that he met his future wife, Katrina Norris. Upon graduation, he received a B.A. as a Ministerial Major. He and Katrina were married in Columbia, South Carolina, on May 19, 1984. They have raised three beautiful daughters: Kristen (6-8-85), Jaquelyn (2-19-88) and Kailyn (7-26-93). He has been a full-time Youth Pastor and Associate since that time, for churches in South Carolina, Florida, Louisiana and Alabama.

While on sabatical in 2000, Pastor Dave and his family moved to Salisbury, North Carolina. In their search for a "family church", they were invited to attend Salisbury Foursquare Church. It was a "perfect fit" for the Cowger family. In 2001 and 2002, Pastor Dave taught High School Bible Courses at Concord First Assembly Christian School and was part-time Associate Pastor at SFC.

On Sunday, February 9, 2003, Pastor David & Katrina Cowger were installed as the new pastors of World Hope Worship Center formerly known as "Salisbury Foursquare Church."

"2003 was an exciting and awesome year for our family and for the church family. As a whole, we have strengthened our commitment to prayer. We have learned the importance of outreach. We have unified our mandate for Missions. God continues to bless us in new ways each and every Sunday. OVER THE YEARS SINCE THEN, our church has more than doubled in size... our children's ministries teams are doing an amazing job, our student ministry (youth) is reaching over 40 each week, and our variety of  ministries for adults continues to grow. We look forward to an exciting future of ministry as we Partner Together In Vision."

2011 marks Pastor Dave's 8th year as Lead Pastor of World Hope!
